At the end of Vatican Council II, the Council Fathers addressed a message to the young, indicating that the Council had sought to ‘rejuvenate’ the face of the Church to better respond to Jesus Christ, eternally young; to question itself on how to better respond to the call to be light and hope for the world.

Mother Yvonne's visit came just in time to celebreate the feast of St. Maria Mazzarello.

Mother Yvonne Reungoat with Sr Lucy Rose Ozhukayil and the Sisters of the SPR province were invited to a secondary Salesian school, Salesian College Sunbury, on the outskirts of the city of Melbourne, to celebrate the feast of St Maria Domenica Mazzarello with the Year 9 Mazzarello Campus Students and staff.

Mother Yvonne Reungoat officiated at the final profession of Sr Bernadette Wauki, the first FMA from the Solomon Islands, on 16 May in the St Jude’s Parish Church, Scoresby. Before the celebration began, the presiding Bishop Mark Edwards prayed alone with Sr Bernadette, a fitting gesture which coincided with the theme chosen by Sr Bernadette for her final profession, “Do not be afraid, I am with you”.

This event brings us deep joy and challenges us as an Institute whose mission is the education of the young people. What is foreseen is a Synod in step with the young and for the young, a precious resource for the Church herself and for society; certainly not a problem.
