This is the story of Fr. Bill Edwards ... a boy from Wollongong who gave his whole life in the service of God and the young as a Salesian of Don Bosco in the Australian Church and as a missionary in the Pacific.
It is a story of love, laughter and letters. It is also the story of a life that ended in the courageous acceptance of illness and suffering.
Fr Bill carried crosses that were ever-present in his life and helped others carry their crosses. He knew the mystery of dying and rising that is at the centre of every authentic Christian life.
Fr Bills story is remarkable both in it's simplicity and in the breath of it's embrace and inspiration.
Countless lives have been touched and transformed by the prayers, preaching, pen and personal encounters with this "priest of and for the people".
'Cobber' was a word dear to Fr Bill, from his days in the streets of Wollongong. As you journey through these pages you will be introduced tothe very best 'cobber' a person could have in life and you will be challenged by Fr Bill to 'dare to be a saint'
