Fr Edward (Ted) Cooper was born at Essendon, Victoria in 1926. He was ordained a priest in Turin, Italy in 1955 and served as a preacher, teacher, humourist and raconteur in many schools, parishes and communities through Australia and, in particular, the Northern Territory. At various times he held positions as principal, director of communities, parish priest, school chaplain and member of the leadership team of the Salesians. He had an insatiable appetite for Australian, aboriginal, church and clerical history and loved the early pioneer priests and Salesians who blazed the trail so that others might follow in their footsteps. Fr Ted dies on 9 September 2013 and is buried alongside his fellow Salesians at Salesian College, Sunbury, Victoria.
