This Professional Development Day will offer you an opportunity to deepen your current understanding, encounter new perspectives and spark new possibilities in relation to our Founder Don Bosco and Salesian Spirituality. One of the key aspects that will make this PD day special is that educators and staff from different Salesian schools and works will come together to have the opportunity to meet each other and learn from each other throughout the day.
Fr. Peter Hoang Rector and Chaplain, St. John Bosco College & Dunlea Centre, Sydney will explore the relevance of Don Bosco for us today, discussing Salesian spirituality as it specifically relates to educators. He will present tangible ideas for integrating the Salesian identity within the classroom and beyond.
Lauren Hichaaba and Tina Newton Directors of the Salesian Missions Department will look at the different work of the Salesians around the world and will focus on how to devolp student involvement and advocacy for overseas missions. They will conclude by hosting a panel discussion with Samoan Salesians, to help illuminate what life is like for young people in the Pacific.
Felicity Walter founder of Yellow Arrow leadership will draw from her vast experience with the Salesians from childhood to the present. She is a living demonstration of how powerful it is when student voice is nurtured and encouraged and will offer practical applications for integration within the classroom and beyond.
Melinda Muir Assistant Principal for Catholic identity at Salesian College Sunbury will synthesise the content of the day and will work with the group to help them understand how to apply the day and its learning to individual contexts.
